Ferguson & Brewer is performance focused. To enhance performance, resident manager training sessions are held quarterly to cover topics such as landlord-tenant law, marketing techniques, delinquency collection, resident retention, maintenance and safety. Creative and cost-saving solutions to challenging maintenance problems are shared at separate quarterly maintenance training sessions. We hire outside professionals to enhance our in-house training program. All of our resident managers are encouraged and financially supported in gaining the Certified Apartment Managers (CAM) designation, which requires attending a 12-week course sponsored by the California Apartment Association. More than half of our staff has earned the designation. Tom, Bob and Laurie are all CAM instructors teaching economics, landlord/tenant law and marketing respectively.

All resident managers participate in an incentive bonus program tied to the net operating income (NOI) of their property compared to budgeted NOI. Maintenance personnel are eligible to receive quarterly bonuses based on performance. Every two years personnel are required to attend a state-sponsored seminar on sexual harassment and discrimination.
